In my case I knew it was, along with the Great Caruso, the best Mario Lanza had done. The bonus for me however is the fact it was filmed in large part in San Miguel de Allende Mexico long before it was discovered by thousands of expatriates. I spent ten years there during the 90s and the film evokes happy memories for me. Another hollywood film with excellent scenes of San Miguel de Allende is "Wonderful Country" starring Robert Mitchum. The town also is featured in a Walt Disney film about a boy and his donkey but my memory banks are not up to remembering the title. And finally, a classic Mexican Cantinfla s film, "El Padrecito", also highlights this enchanting hillside colonial town.
One of the greatest voices of our time - a rather silly movie but wonderful examples of Lanza's magnificent voice.
