In this second book of the Scumble River mystery series, we see Skye Denison still trying to fit into her home town as school psychologist, while the school year is winding down. Skye left Scumble River, twelve years ago, letting the townsfolk know at that time, in a speech, that they all had small minds, and then she had to return in disgrace after losing her last job. In this book, Skye has been spending a lot of time with her grandmother to mend broken family ties and to learn more about her family history. When her grandmother suddenly dies after being given a clean bill of health from her doctor, Skye gets suspicious and even more so when she learns that her grandmother's caretaker has vanished! Family members conclude that she murdered the grandmother, since an autopsy found poison. While suspecting everyone, Skye is determined that she needs to find out the rest of the old family secrets because she feels that is the only way to catch the killer! Ms. Swanson's second book is picking up and adding dept to the characters. I think as the stories develop we will see Skye become more relaxed with the town and the town with her.Read full review
