This is by far one of the best post-Return of the Jedi books to come along in years. The book is written is a very light easy flowing style, with sufficient dramatics to keep the reader going. The author skillfully interweaves quite a few storylines without confusing the reader. It is the first installment of what will probably one of the most important Star Wars storylines to come along in a while, leading up to a faceoff between Jacen Solo and Luke Skywalker.
Ok... this book has a totally amazing story line... it's very exciting and full of action and battles and lightsaber duels and the works. The book also spans frim several characters own points of view and story lines... from Luke to Jacen to Ben to Jiana to Han to Leia to Wedge to Syal and many more. Warning: if you don't know much about Star Wars and the Yuuzhan Vong war this book will confuse the living daylights out of you. So mak sure you study up on the events after episode VI before you read this and the rest of the series. This book is amazing still. If you're in for a good read with an extremely good plot, then check this out.
If you liked or loved the New Jedi Order and/or Dark Nest books, you'll enjoy this continuation of the Star Wars saga. All the original characters that you love from the movies are there, as well as the main characters from the NJO and Dark Nest series, and a villain from the past re-emerges to cause the Skywalker family trouble. The Solo's have plenty of conflicts of their own here as well, and that ends up creating a rift between the families. This book has all the action and adventure that makes Star Wars great, and I'm sure the next eight books in the series will be well worth the wait.
I love this book. Aaron Allston is my favorite author for Star Wars novels. He kicks off the series like a champ. This book is great!!
A review of Star Wars Legacy: Betrayal. Betrayal is the first book of a new 9 book story arch and it is written by Aaron Allston. It is a hardcover book that was released by Del Rey Books. This book takes places 40 years after the battle of Yavin. The story starts off with Jacen Solo and his "unofficial" learner Ben Skywalker. They are off to investigate a possible weapons factory that is illegally making proton torpedo's for an unnamed world. The story takes off right from that point as we find out the weapons are being made. The action is great and the story introduces a number of new characters. It is also very character driven as we get to see the conflict between The Galactic Alliance and that unnamed world (Corellia) unfold. We also get to watch the hardening of Jacen Solo as he starts to walk the path of his grandfather, Anakin Skywalker (or Darth Vader). All in all this is an excellent start to a new 9 book series! There is plenty of jedi and lightsabre battles! Also, the exploration of character development along with the idea of a galactic civil war the likes as we have seen in the movies is wild! I am very excited and waiting for each book in the series. Go Jacen Go. Watching you turn evil is so much nicer then watching you waffle around and whine like you did through most of the New Jedi Order series! Latsyrhc Tamarack CollectiblesRead full review
