This is, quite simply, the biggest disappointment of just about any purchase I have made for my media library I have ever made, BAR NONE. I remember when this film was first released, & my excitement over the amount of attention that was given to it, that it was an attempt to be as faithful to the source material as possible, recreating the sets, costumes, & characters of the original illustrations. All of that remains true - or at least, as close to true as could be imagined & achieved given when it was made. The problems have to do with the DVD product itself, not the film. To start with - no chapter divisions, no ability to jump to specific scenes, nada. The film just starts, without preamble. Not to mention zero extras - I remember quite well that there was a "Making of" documentary broadcast on television the week before the film's release. No evidence of it here. Next, the quality is abysmal, almost an embarrassment to the DVD format. If I saw it in this condition in a theater, I would ask for my money back. I will not bother going into the more technical aspects of sound or picture quality (or more accurately, LACK THEREOF) except to say, DO NOT WASTE EVEN A PENNY ON THIS ONE.Read full review
This version of Alice in Wonderland was very true to the book and I enjoyed it very much. The characters were believable and entertaining. My only wish was that they had made part 2, Through the Looking Glass. Then it would have been perfect.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: New
Best version of Alice in wonderland (atleast, one that actually follows the books, because syfy's "Alice" is AMAZING, and the new Disney "Alice in wonderland" with Johnny Depp is also quite good) i have seen thus far, and that is a huge compliment as i own over 15 different versions (yes, alice freak). acting/filming reminds me a bit of "The Wizard of Oz" with judy garland
