This is a Herculean effort put forth to honor the former drummer of Led Zeppelin, Jason Bonham's father John who passed away at a young age. Who knows what else Led Zeppelin would have given us if John Bonham would not have died, but to honor his father The Jason Bonham Band done a benefit concert with all the proceeds going to charity back in 1996. The fruits of this effort were released in disk form as The Zepset-In The Name Of My Father. First off, I can't say enough good things about this disk, yes it is live material, and no, its not your typical live material! This disk is nearly flawless in production, the band hits all the notes absolutely perfect, and Jason and his band really capture the essence of Zeppelin by doing tracks from all the periods of the "Zep years". There is a killer version of John Bonham's opus "Moby Dick" complete with a smokin' drum solo by Jason that would have done his father so proud. The lead singer sounds so much like Robert Plant that I am sure when Robert heard this disk he said something like..."Gee, that sounds alot like me!" and the guitar and bass work on this Zep Set is absolutely wonderful and very, very well done. If your a Zeppelin fan, like I am, your gonna want this cd!Read full review
Usually another band doesn't do justice to the original studio cut, however the Jason Bonham band really does a quality rendition and tribute to his father John Bonham and Led Zeppelin. If you're stuck in the 70's as I am and believe the best rock & roll was produced during that era then this is a must have because it's pretty true to the original cuts but different enough to keep you listening because you want to hear what's next.

Saw Jason in concert last year with my oldest son who is a musician and age 23. It was a great time and he appreciates this style of music. A chip off the ole block. If you have been a Zepp fan, this is awesome. Jason has a great band.
When I first heard this CD several years ago I thought to myself, "Did they remaster some old tapes?" Because it sounds fantastic. I like it so well that I have bought it 4 times! 3 other times I have lent it out and not gotten it back. So, no more, if you want one, buy your own. If you like Zep? You will like this!
only Jason could do remakes of Zep with the honor they deserve. he is his fathers son. Now have store version and demo version of this cd. demo is in frame on wall in collection. not my first Jason album/cd/casette but is my fav. !!!! well worth listening too. grab one if you get the chance. AAA+++ tunes. Bonzo Dixie Rangers m/c S.E.Ala.
