I certainly hope this is all 3 fully aired mini-series that was on tv way way back in 85. I know back then I was glued to the tv every night and couldnt wait till 8pm and was glued to the tv for that 2 hours it was on. The only bad thing I have to say about the North and South books 1-3 were when the mini series ended and I had to wait till the next one came out and was aired. I am definitly looking foward to receiving this in the mail because I love U.S History especialy at that time. My DVD of the Blue and Gray is just about worn out so im impatiently waiting to get this in the mail and sit down and watch it (no commercials!!!!!!!yaaaaa) I definitly hope this is for reall and I dont get some chopped up rip off thats been repackaged, especialy the original asking price of 69.95 and only paying 18 is definitly a good deal. My mother is also waiting for me to get this so she can borrow it as well too. thank you to the owner of this store for having thins hard to find item in stock and hard to beleive after 20 years an unopened dvd set of this magnitude is almost hard to believe to tell you the truth, I will definitly write more when I get this and let people know if this is real or a rip offRead full review
This show was fantastic. Probably the best show on the subject I’ve ever seen. But going into this knowing, the discs are double sided DVD’s easy to scratch and the menus are confusing. When one episode ends you have to go back to the menu to find and load the next. So when the credits roll don’t jump to the next disc.

I fell in love with North and South when it first aired in the mid 1980's. The story lines intertwine and it captured my attention from the very first scenes to the very end. I also loved Patrick Swayze and how well he played Orry Main. Such a great mini series!

I rented the entire mini-series from the popular online movie rental (DVD place) and was glued to the screen every minute. I loved the cast of characters from Patrick Swayze as the Southern Gentleman with the Southern plantation and his best friend George from the North. The story was very cool in that through what seemed like endless years of politcal turmoil between the Northern Union and the southern states wanting to suceed from that union and all the issues and problems that led to the great American Civil War...these two guys and their families remained close friends despite having to chose sides in the epic battle. This film was great in both it filming, war battle sequences, special friendship type moments and you found yourself sitting there rooting for your favorite characters. The areas that they used to shoot in were dressed appropriately to reflect the attire of the times. The costumes were great! If there was something to make me want to sum the film up in one sentence it would be that you really felt what it was like to live in that time! Rent it - better yet find a great deal on it on eBAy....I did and you will not be sorry but remember "Bent".....That's all I'll say is remember "Bent"Read full review
When the mini series first came out on TV I wasn't that interested, my brother bought a DVD set for mom for Christmas one year I sat down to watch it and I was hooked from that point. When mom passed away in 2013, I claimed the DVD set and had it until 2016 when somebody else thought they were more entitled to it than me and stole it. I've been wanting to replace it since but couldn't afford the prices until now.
