Haven't tried all the meals yet. As a test I tried spaghetti -- my least favorite from the old dark brown military MREs. Tastes as good or better than chef boyardee from a can. I was skeptical of the saltwater heater, as years ago the civilian heaters were barely warm. This one performed surprisingly well, actually got the meal too hot to eat right away. I did miss the more traditional sides and accessories from the military version, but esp for the $$ this was an acceptable substitute

So I jumped on these because I didn't think think the reduced sodium would affect my enjoyment of the product very much. Sadly, I wish I had just purchased standard MREs at the higher price. While the entrees are indeed very bland, that was not at all the deal breaker for me. What I didn't account for was the quality and variety of the other components, which has always been my favorite part of MREs. Aside from the entrees, each pack was identical. They all included fig bars, skittles, raisins, and crackers (no spread). Unfortunately for me in particular, those first three have always been my least favorite components, and the usual star (the crackers) was ruined for me without the spread. The raisins are actually pretty gross and I didn't eat them. Obviously these would work in a survival situation or if you are on a reduced sodium diet, but do not get them for any other reason. Not nearly as enjoyable as a nice full sodium case of MREs.Read full review

The meals are good and the snacks inviting. It would be nice if some form of drink was included, but water from a canteen is adequate. At less than $5 a pack I would put its value as good for everyday use when you don't feel like cooking and excellent in an emergency which is why most people purchase MRE packs.

These are decent MRE's for the price and, so far anyway, taste ok. These aren't military grade and don't come with an 'accessories' pack ie: toilet paper, matches, etc, or a powdered energy drink. They DO come with a pouch of water to activate the heater which is pretty cool.

Seems decent. haven't tried anything except the skittles yet just to make sure it wasn't stored hot (you can always tell with the skittles, they'll be melted together if it was stored too hot). Those were some damn good skittles. Great price, like the good ole days before survival wares shot through the roof
