"X-2: X-Men United" is the sequel to X-Men (2000 DVD). In order to take control over the hateful military scientist William Stryker (Brian Cox), whose aim is to destroy all mutants, ridding the world of them, the former enemies, Magneto and Xavier unite with their mutants to over-power Stryker. X-Men united. The film begins at the White House where a blue German teleporter mutant, Nightcrawler, a new addition to the X-Men, gets past every Secret Service officer by vaporizing into blue smoke until he reaches the US President's desk. Leaning the President backwards over his desk, Nightcrawler draws a knife and jabs it into the desk with a message from mutants. Then, he goes into hiding in a Christian church loft. Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) reappears in the Canadian Rockies looking for answers as to how he was transformed into a mutant with a steel skeleton and deadly retractable steal claws. "Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters," comes back into play as in "X-Men" with Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) and Storm (Halle Berry) teaching students Iceman (Shawn Ashmore, Pyro (Aaron Stanford), and Rogue (Anna Paquin) at a museum where Pyro acts out throwing flames against bullies in the cafeteria. Professor Xavier enters the scene by freeze-framing it long enough to take Pyro to task for using his powers for wrongful purposes. After learning that he is imprisoned by an arch-enemy, William Stryker (Brian Cox), Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and Cyclops (James Marsden) plot a visit the prisoner, Magneto (Sir Ian McKellen). Unbeknownst to the professor and Cyclops, Magneto has a new shape-shifting mutant, Mystique (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos). Stryker escalates his brutal bigotry attacking the school for mutants. Allies and enemies remain united even when Xavier and Cyclops are captured. During Stryker's school siege, Wolverine begins to figure out who Stryker is in relation to his steel skeleton and hands. But Iceman throws up a wall of ice between them so that three of the students and Wolverine can make a clean get away. Using Xavier's jet, the four fly to Iceman's real house, where they are met by surprise when his parents and little brother arrive home. After Iceman outs himself as a mutant to his family, his little brother calls the police. When police arrive the 4 mutants have to battle for their lives. Here's where we learn that Pyro is the most dangerous one of them all, as he sets the whole scene on fire. In the long run Mystique and Nightcrawler, two new characters, though on opposite sides, use their special powers to free Magneto and rescue the Xavier's mutants~Read full review
