Wonderful music with lessons intertwined within a journey that began with accusations of wrong doing and banishment to gaining experiences, knowledge and being in wondrous colorful adventures. And he's just a boy with his endearing companion, Arrow. Music is touching and easy to sing along with. Typical of the era of "open your mind" to new or existing concepts, it flowers the screen with color and messages subliminal. It wasn't too long from when the Yellow Submarine made its entry into colorful cartoon world that The Point came out. Some things in it look very familiar for a YS fan. All aside, this is a delightful movie to follow Oblio and Arrow as they make their journey. I highly recommed its purchase for all those 70's kids and fans of Harry Nilsson Seems sad that only now, we are really learning of his remarkable and extremely gifted talents as a musician, singer, songwriter and storyteller. Oh!, and it never hurts to have a Beatle narrate your story...(rock on Ringo!). Peace and love ❤ , from a fan of those days. Rev Art BarreraRead full review

Absolutely love this! I remember watching it as a child way back when it was first released in the 1970's. I purchased the DVD recently as a birthday gift for my great-nephew. Wonderful songs and engaging characters tell a story of courage and triumph that's fit for all generations. Definitely a timeless classic for anyone with young children.

I have the first generation version of this film on VHS and had wanted to get it on dvd for some time. This version, with the extras, fit the bill. It would have been cool if the original narration by Dustin Hoffman was included, but I get why it's not. (Ringo does a fine job, by the way.) I was a big fan of this when it was first broadcast on ABC. Bought the album as soon as it appeared - I liked NIlsson a lot by this point anyway. It's a good story that, for me, emphasizes the worth of the individual and the value of a human life. Even if a person doesn't look like me, has disabilities, has different ideas, etc.; it doesn't mean that person isn't a valuable part of society. I like the sense of humor that Harry puts into the telling of this story which is also present in some of his music. The extras are nice, informative and a worthwhile inclusion for those who want to know a bit more about how The Point came to be. A note about the music itself. There are times when the lyric really does not fit the story - or the animation it's prominent in - itself. Some of the songs are "relationship" oriented (Are You Sleeping comes to mind) so their inclusion - from a lyrical standpoint - seems a bit forced when relating to the storyline. That may or may not be a concern if you are a parent trying to decide if this film would be okay for younger kids. If you are a fan of the film this presentation should satisfy.Read full review

I bought this as a gift for a friend. I had it years ago and recall little.

This movie is a classic story with entertaining music from a true genius who left us much too early. A more poignant moral could not be found anywhere in children's literature and holds up as well for adults
