Joan Collins was young and sexy in this 1955 movie also starring Jack Hawkins, James Robertson & Sydney Chaplin. The story is about the building of the Great Pyramid and was done on an epic scale. Joan's part was of a campy, sultry villainess who plots to kill the Pharaoh. I doubt anyone cared about the Great Pyramid while watching Joan strut around in all her skimpy costumes looking fabulous and seducing those she needed to accomplish her plan. This is Joan's vehicle.....all the way! There is a revenge ending that just shows you reap what you sow.
Great movie..Educational..Historical Events that should never be forgotten. I would love to have all the older movies of Bibical Times for a collection. Enjoy the orchestrated music that leads up to the dramatic points in old productions, Give you time to really feel the scenes you are watching and become emotionally envolved in the film. Times of great directors & producers should be restored and always kept on video shelves.
I saw this movie when it came out in movie theatres.I loved it so much that I went to see it every day. This was when you could stay in the theatre all day for one admission in our town. It has really good acting, great story line and great costumes. I just loved to hate Joan Collins. She is a wonderful villain. The end was the best!!!!! I cheer every time I see it. I taped this movie years ago off of tv, and watched the VHS tape until I wore it out.This was a dream come true to find a copy of this movie. Of course as soon as I bought it, I found out it was coming out on DVD. So I bought that too!!! I recommend this to anyone who likes historical movies. It is worth seeing and buying.
This was purchased for a friend. She had been looking for a long time. She had the wrong title. The description tipped me off it was the movie she was seeking. She was thrilled with it & we enjojed watching it with her. It was a good copy of the movie & made her Day. Lots of great costumes & lots of extras, a very interesting movie. All Movies should have a description, as someone may not be familiar with the title.
By mistake I bought the VHS version of the movie and was unable to play it. I have heard it is a good movie and shows some Egyptian sights that are no longer available.
