I think this book misses the mark. Ideally in a world where time is not an issue in education, Holt's old fashion ideas might work. Holt (the author) tries to tell us that children, left, alone will learn on their own. Children will self-correct and be able to figure out educational practices; they will figure out how things work and even how to read or do math on their own. With today's focus on electronics, the only thing a child left on their own would learn today, would be how to play video games.
