Hi everybody, i'm sorry because i speak a bad english. Legend tell that in 1973 at Grammy Awards the winner Aretha Franklin gave the grammy to Esther Phillips and told her that she was the real winner. Well i don't know if this album deserve a grammy but it's a good album and Esther Philipps was a great and unfortunate performer (also if luck smile at Esther in 1975 with her disco-success "what a difference a day makes"). I Really Like the mid-tempo and the quick-tempo, in special "Till My Back Ain't Got No Bone" and "Sweet Touch of Love" but i find more interesting also the title track, "Home is where the Hatred Is" (the first track of cd) and "Your Love is So Doggone Good" while i don't find much penetrating slow as "That's All Right with Me" and "Baby I'm for Real" and sometimes i find arrangements too heavy. In Bonus tracks is funny hear her version of How Blue Can You Get (in the past Esther gave her version of another male classic "When a Man Loves a Woman"). My Opinion is that all Soul - Lovers must have this cd (and if it's possible at least othe Kudu Cd "What a Difference a Day Makes" and a collection of 60 like double cd "The Best of Esther Phillips (1962-1970)" by Atlantic/Rhino Many Thanks for your attention Regards PaoloRead full review
