Not at all sharp out of the box. Once you rework blade edge it will do. Handle is unbelievably uncomfortable. Fixed that with Wilson wrap. Not a very good steel, edge folds and chips with normal use. Don't waste your money

*shame* cold steel. Ive had a number of cold steel products. This is by far the lowest quality one. Expect to have to gring your own edge. I dont mean just hone. I mean there is a rollover of the last 5 inches of the blade. The burr itself is sharper than the restof the blade.

Using 1055 carbon steel in a machete is a poor idea if you are actually going to use it. Although easily sharpened, it does not hold an edge very well at all. It may be a nice design but there are better options at a much better price. Tramontina uses 1070 steel that holds up well and is less than half the price of Cold steel. Do some research before you buy and don't believe the sales hype.

I expected a better blade from cold steel. This one is like a sharpened lawn mower blade.
