The acting in this film was not good by today's standards but the story was interesting. Because this film was made in the 1930s, it was rather "grainy" and the sound quality was not good. This, however, did not detract substantially from the story which concerned a man of standing (Squire Corder) who entered into a relationship with a much younger woman (Maria Marten) who was impressed by his wealth and standing within the community. After losing a lot of his money through gambling, Squire Corder gravitated to another woman who was more his age and who was also wealthy. When his younger amour becomes pregnant, Squire Corder invites her to meet him and tells her he wants her to go away with him. They arrange a meeting at an old barn (the red barn) where he kills her and buries her body. He is later discovered as the murderer and hanged for his dastardly deed. I decided to purchase this film because it concerned someone (the main character) who had the same surname as mine (my ancestors were from the UK).Read full review
