The spy slant of the book is neat but the book is really about the characters relationship, growth, and interaction with one another. You can read this comic on a few different levels. Kindt's work really shines when you invest the time to read it (in fact, I think the book almost demands to be reread). The book is arranged in a nonlinear format - meaning that the events as they appear in the book are not arranged in chronological order; however, he provides a guide to allow the reader to read each chapter in a linear format. Fun to read in both ways.

I was motivated to get this book because Wizard (the guide to comics) reported that it won high praise. I read it and thought it was just okay. Yeah it was good but, unless you're into WW2 espionage, it's a little boring. I also found the flow of the story panels a little jumpy and hard to follow -- like a game of pictionary. A little more would have been nice.
I have only the highest praise for this book when it comes to content. Both art and text are superb and complement each other as only a writer/artist can do it. Absolutely mandatory reading for any lover of comic book art. The only drawback is the inferior binding, which made the book come apart in spite of a reading most careful.
