This movie wasn't as well written as the other Muppet movies but it is watchable. I bought this because my grandson loves my other Muppet movies and I hoped that it was a good to because I haven't seen this one before. It is almost like the Wizard of Oz but with a Muppet twist. There wasn't many jokes, the music was okay. Rizzo and his pal the shrimp were the cutest ones.

What do you get when you blend together two of the most classical and memorable icons of all time? Following that simple formula would result in a match made in heaven, with one of the most classic tales interpreted by one of the funniest entertainment troupes of all time. Sadly, the cooks behind it have botched this recipe, adding a heaping helping of untalented Ashanti as our main character Dorothy, a large dose of irritatingly annoying comic relief in Pepe the Shrimp as "Toto", several tablespoons of very inappropriate humor for a family film (including a namedrop of the porn series "Girls Gone Wild" within the first 5 minutes), a few dashes of disturbing scenes that will leave children crying rather than laughing, and forgetting to add any of the charm, wit, or intelligence that made the original classics so loved and memorable in the first place. What should have been a seven-course meal fit for a king is reduced to a two-year-old candy bar found stuck to the back of a toddler's car seat. Unremarkable, disgusting, hazardous to your health, and not filling if stupidly consumed. Stay as far away from this movie as possible and instead watch something more appropriate and fun, such as The Muppets Take Manhattan.Read full review
Not at all what I expected from a Muppets movie. Some parts were cute and nice twists on the original movie, but three sequences of Oz were not kid-friendly images, and were borderline scary. The Poppyseed establishment, although intended to be similar to the field that Dororthy had to cross in order to get to her destination, I felt was also in poor taste. With the exception of the first song, the music throughout was average. Not a dvd I would recommend you let young children watch, and not a dvd that I would recommmend adding to your collection. Rent or buy? - rent it, unless you can borrow it from someone and save the money.
I really enjoyed this movie very much. It did have a little adult humor in parts, but I'd say it's still safe for kids to watch. Overall another muppet classic.
