"We are Conococheague Valley men!" No one can deliver a line like John Wayne. Although Hollywood took creative license with this film, it's still is a great story about a time in US history that get's little attention. Tension between the colonist and the Crown didn't start in 1775 or 1776. It had be brewing for years. James Smith, played by John Wayne, was an early leader in our struggle for independence. Some historians have said the revolution began with Smith in Mercersburg, PA, a small town not far from the Ft Loudon featured in the movie.

Other than being B/W it is totally awesome movie. It could very well be John Waynes best. It is one of the very few with no bad language. It has a terrific story line. The added features are awesome also. The Bill of Rights and the cartoon which is very funny. Recommended for the whole family!:<>) I can find no con's to this movie. The Pro is how the people stood up for there rights and did it in a way that was legal.
This classic is released by Warner Brothers in honor of Duke's 100th birthday on May 26th, 2007. John Wayne and Claire Trevor, stars of Stagecoach, are together again as 18th century adventurer James Smith and his fiery girl Janie. Smith clashes with a British military commander in order to stop the sale of guns to the Indians. This action adventure is set against the backdrop of colonial America. It is great fun to see the young Duke, just as he was becoming a major Hollywood star, on his way to becoming an American legend. Original Theatrical Release 1939. Steven Holt, Movie Magic USA
In my way of thinking, any movie with the Duke, (John Wayne) is always a good one. But this movie is one of his best. There are many characters in the movie tht he has worked with so you can feel the fun. I would recommen this one to anyone who likes the Duke or who wants a taste of history, or who wants just to enjoy a great movie.
I've always liked this movie. We used to watch this in our local history class in high school. The town ,Ft. Loudon, the small town in Pennsylvania which the movie is centered around, is where my father lived as a child so this movie has a special interest for me. Its a great movie if you like John Wayne or you live in South Central PA and are interested in local history. I would recommend this movie to anyone. I cant wait to watch it again!!!
