This movie was everything I was expecting it to be and more! I'm a huge Tim Burton fan so when I found out he was doing Alice in Wonderland I thought it was a perfect fit. Even though the movie doesn't follow the book exactly it does in my opinion follow the mood of the book perfectly. The characters, the sets, the environments, everything is what I pictured while reading the book. The characters ask if this is "the right Alice?" In my opinion the answer is yes! Yes she is the right Alice in every way. The extra features on the Blu Ray and DVD are fantastic as well. This is the best value for your money.

I'm really glad Disney is finally getting into gear and including the digital copy! As for the movie, I admit I wasn't sure what to think the first time I saw it in the theater. It's very different from the animated movie -- and yes, thankfully I did know before going in that it was a sequel and not a remake -- and it's a very different road for a similar story. Both are about Alice finding her own voice and becoming a stronger person. The original is a lighter take on it, partly teaching Alice to be thankful for what she does have, showing her what happens when we become selfish, and encouraging her to believe in herself. This movie shows the more realistic end that back home she would in time be made to believe it was all in her head, just a dream, and she would have to learn much of it all over again when she grew up. It had a lot of the same qualities I liked from Hook as a sequel to Peter Pan. Watching it the second time, I really enjoyed it. Johnny Depp is perfect as the Mad Hatter, Ann Hathaway is great as the White Queen, and no one else could have played Absalom better than Alan Rickman. I really like this new actress, Mia Wasikowska, as Alice. She has a lot of potential and I hope to see her in more films. Also, I enjoyed the costume and set designs for the movie that created the perfect world for a dark wonderland. It's also nice to see small tie-ins to the original, yet developing the story further. So many just rely on the love of the original to get you in the seats and then do very little new, imaginative, or dignifying work to both the name of the franchise and themselves. Burton, nice job!Read full review
I remember reading the book Alice in Wonderland as a child, and these movies take my memories to a whole different level of joy. I loved the engaging characters, especially feisty Alice, dear Mad Hatter, and the demanding Red Queen. If you want a fun trip down a rabbit hole, check out these films.

This off-beat Disney movie comprises a grown-up Alice (Mia Wasikowska) as she's summoned back into the fantasy world by the White Rabbit. The movie is centered around Alice's efforts at ending the Red Queen's (Helena Bonham Carter) reign of terror. Helena Bonham Carter was absolutely WONDERFUL in this movie, as she is at playing the horrid Bellatrix in the Harry Potter Series. As always Johnny Depp delivers a wonderful character in the Mad Hatter. It has typical Tim Burton flair, but the visual affects of "wonderland" are by far its greatest aspects. It is just stunning to see the eye-popping visuals in this movie. It's clear that what the movie was lacking in plot was made up for in visuals. Overall, the movie was small on plot but big on flair, and it would be a real shock to this reviewer if the movie made as much as it cost to produce. I give this a good rating only because of the over the top acting of Carter as the Red Queen and Depp's portrayal of the Mad Hatter as well as the outstanding visual effects.Read full review
Tim Burton does a great job at creating an entirely new story while inserting references to the books.
