I really like this bass a lot. After being setup (nut filed, truss rod adjusted, bridge saddles lowered), it plays just like its more famous brand twin. It does require some setup to play as well as the original. But, it is playable out of the box. Trust me, putting some effort into getting the action set and the fingerboard oiled and polished, is well worth the effort. It took me about an hour to get mine setup nicely. Fit and finish overall, is very good. And, the strings sound great. So while a nicer set of strings (or different type) might be a welcome upgrade, it is not necessary to be playable or good sounding. Pickups sound great...just like the original. All in all, it's a great bargain for anyone who wanted a mini P style bass at half the price. One important note, is that the listing incorrectly states the scale length as 20.78". It is actually a 25.5" scale...or could be 25.78" if it was just the "0" that was a typo. So, it is the same scale as most Fender style 6 string guitar necks. It's a great choice for guitar players that would like to add a bass without requiring the longer finger stretches. I'm thinking about buying another one for a friend. Read full review

As someone who has looked into dozens of budget basses and has owned a few (Ibanez Mikro; Glarry Fretless p-bass), I have never purchased a bass with so much value for your money. 1. The precision bass pick-up honestly sounds full and perfectly serviceable. I was planning on replacing it with a Gibson style mudbucker but almost decided against it because the pickup sounded so nice. Sounds better than the stock p on my Ibanez Mikro. The knobs worked perfectly and felt stable and were crackle-free. 2. Balance: This obviously is an extremely small bass, but I did not feel any major neck dive, which is so rare for a budget short scale. 3. Build Quality: Other than the action at the nut being a little too high, which is common for this price, the bass has no dead spots and does not buzz unless you set it up to do so. The tuners were surprisingly solid, the knobs made from metal that turn just fine, and a body that did not have any serious blemishes, cracks, or dings at all. there were also no sharp frets. Any cons?: The nut is cut a littlel shallow, the finish on the fret board is a little waxy but doesn't affect play, and the strings are very crappy. This last problem is again typical, but replacement strings are hard to come by. I would suggest Ernie Ball 9-string guitar strings, the bottom four of which will give you a medium-gauge bass set that fit this scale length. In summary, buy this thing! It's gig-worthy for all ages! Read full review

First let me say I bought this little bass to leave in our camp trailer at the beach. I'm 70 yrs old with arthritis in my hands. This little guy is number twelve in my bass family and is stepping up to be number one of my favorites. It is light and easy to handle so it would be perfect for the beginner child to begin with. If you see a micro scratch below the finish ignore it and listen to the tone, it's pretty good. I plugged it into three amps and was not disappointed.I recommend for a lot of fun.

I play bass to this day for 45 years. I still have some great playing classics but who wants to carry around a rather expensive bass in there auto to travel and just leave in the car , to extreme , cold/heat. Not me so for $84.00 you cant beat this bass. I could care less what happens to this bass, but the funny thing is im surprised at how nice it plays. I tuned it up out of the box and its perfect for what I need super the cool thing is it fits in the car and I can play it any time over a battery powered Fender mustang amp. This combo is perfect. Go ahead and spring for $84 bucks its worth it.

Bought for my son's first instrument not expecting anything too special....but the quality of this bass is amazing. No imperfections in the fretboard, great playability and tone. Once set up, besides size of body, plays like a $1500 bass
