I think that the film Christine is one of the best movies of 1983 and since it's one of my many favorites, that's why I bought it. In my opinion, it's honestly up there with other films of that year such as Scarface (1983). Since then, it has gone on to become a little horror gem from master filmmaker John Carpenter and many people also consider Christine as a guilty pleasure nowadays; frequently, it plays on stations like Showtime, HBO, and it has a lot of showings on the AMC network T.V. channel here and there. In case you didn't know, the movie is based off the book written by the legendary Stephen King that was released the same year as well. In these creative efforts, Christine was immediately considered a commerical success, with both the novel automatically becoming a best-seller while the film drew in mass audiences and ended up being a respectable box-office hit around the Christmas of 83. I think that this movie is also one of Carpenter's greatest films of his career, just behind The Thing "1982" and Halloween. In terms of the purchase itself, everything was convenient except for the fact that it wasn't the flick's original video release of 1984, but I guess you can't always follow the stock photo given. It isn't such a big deal though. I'm sure that I'll find a copy one of these years. In summary, that's what I think of the movie and I definitely recommend it to any fan of these types of genres. Hopefully, this review was helpful to you, even if it was just in the slightest way.Read full review
The car is the star. The school bullying stuff is believable. The kid wanting a 50's car is too. The whining about the kids interest in the car, the complaining of the "snooty" parents, and bullying giving the kid a bad attitude is also familiar in American society. Then there is the "way out there" haunting, spiritual possession of the car, that turns the whole story into a farce. I suppose they figured the needed a hook to hang the rest of the story on...so "lets make it spooky". Oh well...as if the real stuff in it isn't scary enough. Blackboard Jungle deluxe...turned Elm Street..sorta. Gotta love that car.
Simply the best! Stephen King at his finest! And great graphics to complete it!
