After years of wearing a very distinctive boutique british brand, I became completely committed to Terre d'Hermes. and to Eau Fraiche. It's a more rarefied scent than the usual very commercial stuff. For one thing, I suspect all the elements are truly genuine organic extracts as opposed to a chemical synthethics. Fragrances that use natural ingredients and organic compounds, do not have the broadcast range and staying power of cheaper lines.... those which use a fixatif which also gives fragrances an unpleasant aftertaste if you lick them. Terre d'Hermes: Very subtle, refined and upscale. If a guy wants to blast everyone with assault grade fragrance, this one is definitely NOT for you.
started wearing this cologne on the advice of a clerk at a Duty Free boutique in Paris. I was frankly a little shocked when I first smelled this cologne, and I knew instantly that I had found the unique scent I had always been after. It smells extremely classy, and I will also note that it is one of these unique kind of colognes that can create vivid memories for those who wear it and those around the wearer. It makes me imagine a cold, muddy day in the spring - just before everything blooms... Minerals, ash, flint, granite, mud, ponds... and of course a fresh citrus scent mixed in.
You might call this a mass perfume, and that's what it is, but it's the top quality exquisite fragrance that has been bringing me joy and energy for this last couple of years. The scent is very citrusy overall, especially on the opening, but it's quite complex. Becomes more bitter, not peppery-bitter but grapefruit-bitter and vetiver-like as is dries out. Stays closer skin (less projecting) than the EDT version, medium longevity, but very enjoyable to wear. Opens up great on hot sunny days. As with any perfume, try it first, it is still available through a lot of chain stores like Sephora and duty free stores worldwide.
When I spent that kind of money on a 2.5 oz cologne, I was expecting more strength and longavity.. it didn't deliver that at all and knowing that it was an EDP and not an EDT, I expected a lot more... so I was really disappointed...that's one quality I still think L'instant De Guillarn Eau De Parfum has above most other colognes of this range. I will look for it until I find that cologne...Terre D'Hermes is not strong enough and doesn't last long enough (would usually lose it's scent in about 1 hour)for the kind of masculine air I want..... Not good enough!!!
