I first bought Captain Underpants books because my son was going through the potty humor phase. I guess they are made for kids old enough to read to themselves. They are very silly stories, but still fun even for grown-ups. I find them entertaining. My children are 4 and 5.(Too young to read the books on their own) I read the books to them at bedtime. It gives them a chance to calm down before bed and, they absolutely love the Captain Underpants Series. The books have short chapters and lots of pictures. My kids are not the type to sit quietly and listen, but my 4 year old would sit there through the whole book if I would read it to her. They love these books.
What I like best is this book is interesting to my son who struggles to read. (It is hard to find books he will sit down and read. He would rather be OUTSIDE)!It is a funny book that takes a lighter side to life. What I dislike is it does not always use proper english and can be kind of naughty! If your child understands the difference between a book and actual life that should not be a problem! Overall, My child wants to read and that is so important to me! Therefor, We will continue to read them. :)
The book was a little bent on the cover ...but it had no writing marks in it so thats a plus. My kid loved it!

I took my girllfriends daughter to her bookfair at school and seen the posters advertising Captain Underpants. She is 7. If my father seen that crap in my school back in the day he would have been talking to the principal at a town meeting. So let me get this right, we take a respected title like "Captain", then turn it into a character that does not know how to dress himself properly and then use that as a good example to teach kids. Parents that buy this should be ashamed of themselves. What happened to people speaking up for the content thier children read. People wonder why parents more and more are pulling thier kids out of public schools and putting them in private schools. Thanks for reading Sincerely a concerned parent
As a teacher, I don't really like the content of the books, but my kids do find these books entertaining and they actually READ them. Sometimes it is difficult to get them to read anything! The cartoon portions also inspire my students to draw and write their own comics.
