Reference books can be very polarizing - since the goal is to get as much information in as possible, style and readability are not the key publishing targets. This book is indeed jammed full of details on German armor in WWII. Every variation is at least mentioned for every vehicle. The black and white photography is sometimes poor, but these are archival photos - there are a few photos from tank museums that are much nicer. The author/publisher perhaps should have used some digital techniques to enhance them in many cases. Organization is weird - I would have organized by type - heavy tank, medium, etc, and then perhaps in chronological order. It's very hard in my opinion to read this reference. I would also have liked to have seen a more useful page layout and consistency in the layout of information provided (even if not all information was always available). These authors are likely very old or have passed, but a modern version of this could be wonderful. In readability, organization and photos, the Forty/Livesey book is MUCH better. In sheer content on German armor of WWII, this book is terrific. If you want as much information as possible about Germans WWII armor, this is it. If you want a nice book that's enjoyable to read and look at, this is not it (Forty/Livesey book is better).Read full review
