The box seems to be built well enough but I am with the other guy in the reviews, the key/lock is very low quality. It would definitely keep out only the honest people. We bought this for our 7 year old grandson as a birthday present to put his things in it. So it is serving its purpose for that but would go no further than that for keeping valuables in it. Sorry
