The book is great. The shipping from Roanoke, VA to Columbus, OH took a very long time! Not sure what the hold up was, but I was happy to finally get the book.

Having read most of spark's works, I have to say this one is the only one that did not grip me from start to end. It would seem to be something he might have written in the beginning of his literary career as he was learning the ropes of writing. A good story all in all, just not his usual "Keep you up and reading all night long"...........

Nicholas Sparks proves time and again that when it comes to pulling on heart strings nobody can do it better. In North Carolina, Travis Parker enjoys his freedom and being solo. He has his loyal buddies and a well-paying job and a spectacular waterfront home. He isn't blind to a pretty face and Gabby Holland, a beautiful redhead, who moved in next door is very noticable. Travis also notices she has a big chip on her shoulder and then there is the little part about her long time boyfriend making his presence known to let Travis know she is off limits. Yet, Travis knows that he wants Gabby in his life for some unexplainable reason. As much as she ignores him, he keeps being persistant hoping it will break her boundaries down. This is a good book about a journey into love, loss and hope. Get out the tissues!Read full review
I absolutely love this author's books. He does a great job of catching your attention and holding it. Whether you like the longterm love in The Notebook or the action packed sightseeing adventure in Three Weeks With My Brother, Nicholas Sparks is the writer you need to read. This book was more on the side of the Notebook but yet a completely different story of its own. Sparks does a wonderful job of keeping you caught up in the moment and making you feel like you are right there to experience the whole story first hand. I can't wait to see what 2008 brings.
This day and time it is very refreshing to find a writer who writes wholesome, down to earth stories that captivate and make a person drift away to a much slower setting, where dreams do come true and either hearts can break or they live happily ever after. This author seems like a person I would love to meet and share life stories. Before I ever read a single book of his, I had seen 3 movies made from his books: A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, and The Nights at Rodante
