One of the best all around microphones on the market. It's worth a try! IMO
Could not resist the great eBayer's sale price on this model microphone. It's the big brother to my M69TG which I use for woodwind instruments. The M88TG is a great all around mic for both vocals and instruments. It's frequency response is terrific and low feedback is an added bonus. The Shure mics are good but this Beyerdynamic mic is great! I'm satisfied with all aspects of the M88TG. This is my opinion of the M88TG microphone, but you won't be disappointed if you decide to purchase one.

Crisp and Clear
It was time to invest in a higher end mic for my performances and I have always been impressed with the quality of the Beyer mics. This particular one was suggested to me by my sound man and I am very pleased with it. It is definitely much more sensitive than my Audix mic and so I am still get5ting used to that, but the clarity and crispness of the sound is fantaStic! Definitely a good investment in my career as a vocalist.

An essential piece of my recording studio toolkit
I use an M88 at every session. This one is a spare, as I wanted to be sure to always have one handy when I'm recording. It has been my # 1 pick to record bass drum since '96. Unlike other mics for this application, it has the attack AND the tone that I don't get from any other microphone. And the hypercardioid pattern is helpful to keep all that other racket out of my kick drum. Highly recommended

Must have mic for any studio. The only mic to have if you need only one.
Exceptional mic for kick drum, bass and guitar cabs, male voice! Competes with md421 on kick, though needs a more distant placement from the drum for better performance (to my mind). Anyway, the kick literally kicks *ss and seem to not need any EQ, compression whatsoever. I should have gotten this mic first, before any other mics in my locker. In fact, now I am considering getting all Beyer mics (to the m201 and m88 TG I already have), especially ribbons. Would easily get another couple of 88's to my locker though (for tracking the entire band at a time).

M88's are top flight vocal mics. They are expensive yes, but if you need a tough mic that replicates voice accurately this is one of the best...
