I reviewed the book, and I like what the author compiled. I purchased 3 copies of the book for my nieces and nephews as a Christmas present. I thought it would be a great time to introduce them to the hobby of coin collecting. It's a good time to introduce them to the subject matter, and plant the seed of collecting coins. It will be several months before I can get the feedback and results of my efforts. I believe this book will be well received.

When I came across this book, I was looking for a book for my nine year old that would introduce him to coin collecting. I was very pleased that this book not only informed him of many interesting and fun facts about coins; but also had the slots to put the coins in as well. This is a great book for people that do not know anything about coins. The book was published in 2000, and has the spaces to collect all 50 statehood quarters. Also it has the spaces to collect the coins for your birth year, pennies from 1960 to 2000, oldest finds and a millenium money tree which will hold coins from the year 2000. Problems I had with the book: If you are looking to fill all of the spaces, you will find that not only a lot of time, but a lot of money will be required. At first glance I thought it would be simple, but we really had to search hard to find some of these coins. The second thing I was very dissapointed with were the slots. It is VERY hard to get some of the coins to stay in the slots. We actually had to pry many of them in there and I actually taped some in. If you are looking to not touch a valuable coin, I would stay away from putting your more expensive ones in there. Overall opinion: Despite a few negatives, the positives greatly outweigh them. I would greatly recommend this book as a fun and and informational project not only for the kids, but the parents as well.Read full review
My 10 y/o son bought this book with his own money. Overall, it was very educational, and inspiring. His intereset has grown in an attempt to search out specific coins, and is learning that some coins are better not spent. However, the slots for the coins are not proportionate..he has almost lost several because they will not stay in place. I feel that a book directed towards kids should offer an easier placement option. This book is excellent for beginners, otherwise, and would be an educational, as well as, entertaining gift!
This is a great product. My son is ten years old and loves the book, it teaches kids valuable lessons - such as you can get great fun out of things that are not electronic! It also teaches good history lessons and great intellectual exercising. I recommend this book to anyone, it is a bit out of date - but is a great value even today.
my son loves it until he tried putting the coins in it he was even trying to hammer them in but they do not stay in. the book does have alot of interesting facts that me or my son did not know we sat and read the whole book in one setting and my son is 10 and hates to read but the book would be awesome if the coins would just fit in it. my son is now almost 12 and he has pulled this book back out and loves it he has been trying to collect all the coins he loves it
