This book is one of the recommanded reading items for those planning on taking the AICP. I am preparing to sit for the AICP so that is why I purchased the book. I find the book an easy read, and the author is some what humerous in some of her descriptive expressions over landscape architects that spawn the idea of urban planning and made it a reality so that Great American Cities can be created and killed for lack of a better word. Where the authors pokes her critical humor in is in the creations of these "Great Cities", these landscape architects/urban planners did not take into consideration the people that walk the streets who in turn knows the street better than they designing these cities. A city with a vibrant life, and then the death--a given city gone blighted. So far, I am enjoying the book.Read full review
