This is a GOOD DISC because: 1) Lots of military mecha. 2) Interesting Story (although done many times, about space virus from a comet causing mutations in the human race & only altered humans can fight the resulting freaks) 3) Intense fighting & lots of gore, the Manga kind and it is very good! 4) The good guys do not always win. 5) Very Psychodelic and Imaginative in the use of weaponry; 15 on a scale of 10. 6) Great music. The Japanese have some awesome studio musicians that can wail on thier instruments and take the Manga & Anime' sound tracks very seriously. This is a BAD disc because: 1) The story has been done many times....alien virus from space on a comet falls to earth and people become mutants. Altered humans with nano-machines are the only ones who can battle the mutants.....you get the picture. 2) The hero is supossed to be 18 or older? And acts like he is 12 years old. 3) The hero is emotionally stunted when it comes to women? (What gives here?) 4) Hero loses friend to mutation & becomes bigger jerk than ever....then falls in love with girl who is secret weapon against mutants & can't handle it? A great watch and very interesting. Leaves you wanting more and ready to buy the next disc right away. Interesting use of the classical Samarai values in the actions of the characters, falling in love by stealing looks, divided loyalties among the main core characters when the chips are really at the worst point. Uncle Dan highly recommends for any Otaku or amature just warming up! Will not disappoint!Read full review
This dvd only has 2 episodes and I didn't think buying this was worth it because the story needs a little improving. The first episode throws you into a fight scene where you don't know whats going on. The second episode starts to introduce you to the characters, which the characters aren't to great either, the characters are either mad all the time, crazy, or shy. I need more than that to be entertained. I don't think there was a single scene where I even giggled other than at the cg's during the first giant monster fight.
I purchased the movie for my daughter who loves Anime. She loved the movie, her only complaint was that it wasn't long enough.
