The 1952 Washington-Carver Half Dollar has the largest mintage of any coin of the type by over a million coins. Similarly, the number of certified examples of this date is substantially larger than any other. The most frequently-seen grade is MS64, where thousands have been certified. In MS66, the population drops substabtially, yet remains common. Only in MS67 does this date become rare, and the finest example is a single PCGS MS68. The distinguishing characteristics of high-end examples are tremendous eye appeal, superb surfaces, and exceptional color.
Collecting coins did not make me any money. I have collections that I bought on ebay and tried to sell them for what I paid, and no one would buy them. Finally sold them at a loss. Buying coins as an investment is not smart anymore, as few young people are into collection
