For nearly a generation, the Maglite brand has been a favorite of law enforcement and other professionals who need a GOOD flashlight. This Maglite LED seems to be of the same quality! This particular flashlight would be ideal for use in a holster or with a lanyard of some kind. My only real gripe is, that if left on a flat surface, it can ROLL as it's completely round. It might be a bit heavy for some uses, but the D cells combined with a low amperage LED bulb offer a lot of light for a lot longer than smaller flashlights we've used. Yes, I'd recommend it.

At first glance the ML300LX MAG-LITE is awesome. It is bright and is smaller diameter than older D cell's. I really like the grip pattern and multi function electronic switch and the fact that it's LED. I wish that you could program it specifically for the functions you want instead of having to settle for 1 of 4 choices. I would prefer momentary on , hi and low , so had to settle on one of the 4 options. It should have had the 4 function options engraved on the flashlight , so you have the instructions available and can quickly switch to another option without having to play around to find what you may need at a later time. Here is the huge downside and why I'm rating this flashlight only 3 stars- I ordered the replacement glass lens for this light so I'm not dealing with scratches on the polycarbonate lens when cleaning dust and dirt off of it. It should come with a higher quality lens to start with , for a USA made product that advertises that it's high quality. I can forgive that inexpensive flaw , but... When I took the lens out to replace it , and saw how the reflector and spot/flood assembly was designed , it made me sick! The assembly is made of cheap plastic with cheap plastic gears that zoom in and out as you rotate the head its 1/4 turn. It won't take much for these plastic gears to become stripped out , losing the ability to change between spot and flood. For 50+ bucks and from a company like MAG-LITE , I would have expected way more ! I'd rather pay a few bucks more for quality than to pay a lot for something that has a serious design flaw and likely won't last. I was generous by giving this light 3 stars when their choice to cut corners really only deserves two stars...Read full review

Although the original eBay listing makes no mention of the need for flashlight modifications, the reality is that this is NOT a drop-in replacement. To get this LED module to fit, it was necessary to cut away the existing reflector collar, such that the much-wider-than-stock heat- sink substrate can fit in the flashlight head's housing. Use of a band saw easily removed the beveled collar of the reflector, but... This modification forces a loss in functionality for the flashlight, as turning the head assembly no longer causes the bulb focal point to rapidly cam in and out. What is left, as a partial functionality, is the ability to gradually adjust the focal point, by making many turns of the flashlight head. Although not optimal, it is possible to place the LED in the correct focal point. However, it is worth pointing out that the intensity is superb.Read full review

This is the best flashlight ever. It is brighter than almost all. My neighbor used a different flashlight that was much more expensive and rechargeable, but I showed him how good these were. You don't need rechargeable in these LED maglites because batteries last so long in them that many times the light is still working and the batteries are falling apart due to age. In fact that has been my biggest problem is the corrosion caused by bad batteries which were neglected because the light was still bright. Amazing. I saved $8 by ordering online instead of buying at Wal-Mart. The reason I could not save more is these are worth more than they sell for compared to the competition. I put akalines in mine, but really if I would drop down to the even cheaper heavy duties I might solve my corrosion problem. Just maybe the light would dim before heavy duties started to rot. Maybe.Read full review
This was just the latest of the Maglites that I have purchased over the years ,and I bought it as a gift for my step-niece to keep in her new car. It also would make a good skull dinger used in a self protective fashion,....for my nieces safety. A good quality flashlight ,and a great price!
