The memories this evokes are from high school in the '60s when this was originally on. I was reading a number of histories & novels about WWII at that time period, too, so this was a show not to be missed. I did miss the first season, though, of which this is a part, since our family didn't have a TV until around 1964! When cable finally arrived in our small Colorado town, it was worth getting the TV and this show rapidly became one of my favorites. Great show!! If you like the series, buy this one.

I watched Combat on our tiny black and white tv back in the 60's when my brother and I were supposed to be in bed. I was always asking my brother who the bad guys were. We had to have the volume down to zero and sit a foot away. I ended up taking 3 years of German in high school so that I could know what the Germans were saying!! True story.
