I've read all of Kurt Vonnegut, Jr's novels, short stories, etc. and enjoy them greatly, but why someone would make this movie the way it was made is beyond me. It's loaded with a lot of really good stars, and that alone makes the movie worth a watch. Having read the book a couple of times I got it, but for the person that's unfamiliar with what's going in the characters minds it becomes a hodge-podge of confusion. A running narrative explaining the whys and why nots would've vastly improved this movie. And so it goes.

It is a good movie, perhaps one of Bruce Willis's best, but if you don't read the book, I think you will miss the complete atmosphere of the book. As it is, it is simply a bad portrayal of Hoosier businesses. I think Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. aimed more towards something like he did in "A Man Without a Country" in "Breakfast of Champions or Good-Bye Blue Monday", the book. I am still looking for a copy of "Hoosier Holiday". That may top this.
This was a rental tape sealed in cellophane, not a new tape. It works, but is extremely worn. Fuzzy picture, good sound.
