First of all I am a huge fan of Hunter S Thompson!...so I was really just getting these items to add to my collection. As a person HST is an extremely interesting person & as a writer he has an outside-the-box point of view. GONZO is about the man/myth/legend, while Fear & Loathing is a prime example of his writing...watch the movie or read the books,you won't b disappointed!

Although very well written, I’m not sure it’s all true. Parts of this book seem highly fictionalized to me. In real life 1971 he probably would have overdosed, killed in a car crash, arrested by the police or gotten his clock cleaned by someone he pissed off. I’m still wondering why people seem to be very impressed by this book.

Hell's Angels was the book that turned me on to Hunter S. Thompson's writing style but this which he referred to as his "Vegas book" is without a doubt his masterpiece. When I first read it I was on a flight from New York to Phoenix and I had to put it away and watch a movie because I was laughing so hard there was tears in my eyes and other passengers were getting nervous. After 9/11 I would not dare to read HST on a flight, lest I be taken by Sky Marshalls! I highly recommend this as one of the funniest reads you will ever try but caution you to use discretion as to where you read it.
Most of the pages are intact, but the first four pages are stained with what seems to be a shoeprint and a big brown stain. Also there is a piece of paper missing on the first page. The rest of the book is in a pretty good condition. Can't wait to dive in.
