This is a superb album, and I can't help but think what a genuinely amazing lady Jewel is - to be writing such excellent music after so many years in the business. There's a few old fan favourites that have found there way onto this album; tracks like "Long Slow Slide", "Satellite", "Last Dance Rodeo" and "Stephenville, TX". These songs have been brought up to date, and have been cleverly given a new lease of life, through Jewel's never failing intelligent, and fresh approach to music and life. The track "Fragile Heart" has been reworked, and sounds even better than it did on the album 0304. But it's the new songs which really blew my socks off! The songs "Again and Again", "Good Day" and the title track "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" - are nothing short of 5-star Jewel. My personal highest praise has to go to the track "Where You Are" - which is not just my favourite track on the album; this has got to be the best song released from any artist this whole year. Jewel's beautiful sensual, sexy vocals glide out effortlessly on this song, and leaves you realising this is something truly special - a real highlight in her career. The album displays professionalism and true class throughout, and if there's any justice in the music business - it should get the highest award!Read full review
I bought this cd as soon as I could as I have been an avid fan of Jewel since I heard Who will save your soul back on the radio in the summer of '97. I found her albums were getting better with eachone that came along until the release of 0304 of which seemed a bit of a depature for her, unfortunately, down the wrong road. Well I am pleased to say the Goodbye Alice...is a trimphant return to form for her and the first single Again and again is absolutely sublime. Definitly worth a try... Deanub40
