This catechism is the latest version for use in LC-MS congregations though I'm sure other synods would appreciate this catechism. I teach 7th grade confirmation and decided to get a student version which is what I am reviewing here. I wish there were a teacher version that was spiral bound to make it easier to scan a page that I would project onto a screen in the classroom, particularly for reviewing memory work. It was an unpleasant surprise to find the 4th Commandment to *not* have the promise - clearly not consistent with either Ex 20 nor Deu 5. It makes it hard to explain to the confirmands why the Apostle Paul in Eph 6 refers to the 4th Commandment as the commandment with a promise! The scripture references are from NIV84 so far as it appears. Again, a little difficult to work with in a classroom where the ESV is supposed to be the primary English translation. I was surprised to discover that the Question numbers do not line up with the Questions listed in the Catechism I used for confirmation in 1975 that used KJV for scripture references. This is a disappointment because there is not consistency through the generations. One must ask why this would be the case?!Read full review
