Q*bert 3 for Super Nintendo is a new spin on a classic arcade game. This game is a lot of fun but it's pretty difficult for such a basic game. While there are unlimited continues there aren't really any codes to pick up where you left off. There are 20 levels, each consisting of 4 screens. Once you've passed all 20 levels you are given a code to the "X*bert" mode. I don't know how many screens this mode includes because you have to start over at the beginning whenever you run out of lives. That being said, I was able to derive hours of gaming enjoyment from this nearly 20 year old game. If you favor classic games and old school graphics over complicated, visually exhausting new games, this SNES version take on the Q*bert franchise is for you.
Based on the popular arcade title from the early 1980s, Q*Bert 3 offers the same cube-hopping gameplay as the original in a bright new package. The characters are big and beautiful, with a Claymation-like sheen, and the flat black background from the arcade game has been replaced with a variety of surreal images which pulse with color and life. The music makes the most of the Super NES's sound chip, and gives the game a goofy, lighthearted feel. The only sticking point is the control, which is slightly awkward with the Super NES's diagonal-impaired stock controller. Nevertheless, this is easily the best game in the Q*Bert series, and dusts the unfortunate Playstation and Dreamcast games released by Atari years later.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
Better than the original Q Bert, alot of different screens as you play, good control over game, you can play through more screens in this version, Great Game
I bought this thinking it was the first Q-bert game, for old times sake. I have enjoyed this game; it's layout changes by the second level. It's just a nice variety of playing fields.
