G.I.Joe Resolute is a perfect bridge between the different Joe universes, both old and new. It references the original comic book series (which many fans like myself hold sacred), nods to the original animated series from the eighties, and holds some continuity with the more recent animated stories like Valor versus Venom. It has a far closer semblance to the Joe continuity from the comics than the Rise of Cobra feature film does. It is a more mature version, where neither heroes or villains are invulnerable. Written by Warren Ellis (a very talented and well respected comics writer), Resolute is a far darker vision of G.I.Joe, catering more to the adult fan of the series than aiming for a saturday morning TV spot, not that the series is unsuitable for a younger audience, but it is a little harsher in the depiction of violence. I, like many older Joe fans see this as the pinnacle of G.I.Joe on film, and I would highly recommend it to fans of action movies, anime and especially to any fan of G.I.Joe who has not seen it.Read full review
Although a little short for a full priced DVD, (just under an hour) this is definitely the best incarnation of G.I. Joe I've seen on the screen. Borrowing from the comic book series more than the 80's cartoon or movie, the story really does a good job of conveying a more realistic approach to the subject matter. People actually die, the stakes are high, and everything has the appropriate weight and tension to it, taking into full account that this is a story about a millitary force trying to stop a powerful terrorist organization from killing millions of people and taking over the world. Great action, great characters. In particular, I really liked the updated look of the characters and their new weapons and technology. I only wish this were the pilot episode for a new G.I. cartoon series with this tone to it. (Come on Cartoon Network!)Read full review

When I first saw this GI Joe iteration, I thought to myself, more cartoons should look like this. Lol Its an excellent reference piece, and an idea I definitely want to pass down some day.
