Prince of Themes...
Superb Michael Kamen score! Michael Kamen scored the likes of Lethal Weapon, Die Hard and Licence To Kill in the mi-late 80's - and his themes became very samey - but Robin Hood:Prince of Thieves is not like those others. This is a rousing score full of sympathetic strings, romantic flutes and stiring horns. It speaks well that the production company Morgan Creek (who made the film) kept the Overture as their Signature theme over their logo until very recently (I think they have finally ditched it now after 20 years of using it). This score is full of sweeping movements, ballads and surprises. The score harks back to the old swashbucklers of the Golden Age of cinema. I think it always speaks well of a score when you can listen to it completely independently of the movie it was written for without thinking of the movie itself. This is such a score. Also included on the CD are Wild Times by Jeff Lynne and let's not forget that longstanding number 1 for Bryan Adams - Everything I Do (I Do It For You) co-written by Kamen and whose theme is used tastefully through the score also. An excellent score you wouldn't actually mind spending full price for.Read full review

No tax on these goods!
I love the film Robinhood Prince Of Thieves. The forest treehouse dwellings and lake crossing were filmed just down the road from where I live and I've been to a few of the other filming locations on my travels too. Such a great soundtrack and of course the Bryan Adams single is such an amazing song. I like having the choice to listen to the music without the film as well as enjoying the film as a whole.

My "favourite" film
I went to see this film at the cinema 11 times when it came out in 1991. The only thing that spoiled it a bit was Kevin Costners woodenness and a few continuity errors. The soundtrack just evokes the memory of the film, but also my husband and I used to listen to the soundtrack when driving round Northern France on holiday and so that brings other great memories. The music is very powerful and this is one of the few instrumental soundtracks I have ever bought.

Wedding Ceremony Music!!!
I actually bought this CD for one of the tracks - Marian at the Waterfall - we will be playing this as we sign the register at my wedding in May 08
