I read this book probably 1000 times to my son! He loved hearing it over and over and over again. He might even know it by heart! He and his wife are now having a baby of their own and I wanted to get this for him to read his child. Outstanding book for little ones about a mother and her baby bird. Highly recommended!!!!

This book was always a favorite in my house. I wanted to give one to a good friend who just had a baby. Well nowhere in the description did it say it was a very small book and they cut the story in half. It isn't the same at all and they left out everything that made is such a cute, touching story. I donated it.

This was my older son's favorite book when he was a little boy. Now that he and his wife are expecting a son of their own I just had to give them this book since our copy fell apart, years ago, after so tons of readings. It's cute and fun to read and a great book for young kids learning to read on their own.

Being a Dr Seuss book, I expected it to be a worth while book as all the books by P.D. Eastman are but our 3 year old adores it. She did have a problem with the reason a piece of heavy equiptment is called a Snork because despite what the little bird in the story says those kind of tractors don't make a sound like Snork. Of course they don't but once we got that resolved by the fact that baby birds don't know how to make a real tractor sound she loves the book. After a few nap time readings she was able to read the book to her mother so it is working those little brain connections just fine.
Not only did I love this book when I was a little girl but so have my 2 boys. Both when they were around 1 year old. Children need books read to them and this book they can relate to at this age. I changed the work mother in the book to mama because that's what my 1 year old knows. Every time the kitty or the boat come in to view he points to them. When the baby bird falls from the tree he brings his finger down the page. This was the first book I read to him and now it is his favorite. We call it his "mama book". Now he won't let me read any other book to him!!! The con I have found is that P.D. Eastman didn't write too many books. I wish he had!!
