Have you ever seen the popular HBO series 'Oz' and thought "Woah, it would be so cool to own my own 'Oz'?"? Well, now you can. The concept is simple- build a prison and don't go bankrupt. On the way, make sure your inmates don't all shank each other, that your guards are doing their job, that rehabilitation and therapy is available.... It's quite fun. Start by building the basic buildings-dormatories, cafeterias, factories, recreation areas, hospitals, visitor centers, and so on... then fill these buildings with furniture, classrooms, therapy rooms, etc. You can even parole worthy inmates. This game is awkward to 'move around', the graphics are decent enough but lack realism. Probably the Sequel will be better (if they make one). A very good first version, Prison Tycoon will have you humming along to the harmonica beats in the background.Read full review
I love tycoon games. I love to build things and play strategic games. I thought this would be very similar to Rollercoaster Tycoon, but it turned out it wasn't as I thought. Both games have some similarities, but it seems as if Prison Tycoon does the work itself. It takes up lots of memory, restricts your game play, and has horrible instruction. I thought maybe I was just not playing right, but it really doesn't do justice like all the other tycoon games I have once played. I would not recommend this game to others, but I would also let them know not all tycoon games are like this. The buildings are huge compared to the small amount of land they give you and the instructions are vague and unclear. It is definantely not for children.
I love tycoon games and this was pretty much the only one I didnt have so I needed to buy it! :) The controls of the game were a little difficult until I got used to them and it took me a while to figure out the strategy/plot of the game as well. Once you familiarize yourself with it, it is really fun! I also like that there are cheats so if you feel like just playing how you want to play, you can!
I just bought this game last night and couldn't wait to get home to play it and I am so disappointed! There is literally no action, you can't move the camera around easily and 95% of the time you just sit around waiting for something to happen. In most sim games you can control the characters but in this game you can not control them at all. You can click on each individual character and it brings up their stats but that is about it. Believe me, this game is a total waste of money!
I bought this as a gift for my son's teenage girlfriend. She loves "Hello Kitty" stuff. I wanted to check it out and ended up playing the eight different games for two hours. I was addicted. It is designed for children, but I had fun and it wasn't too easy for me.
