Rarely do I read a book twice, and this is one of those rare books. What makes us human? Why do we have feelings for certain people? Why are we attracted to the same kinds of people? Where do intuition and dreams come from? Why do we need each other not only to survive, but to thrive? Why does my pet dog miss me (and only me) when I'm away? What's the science behind some of these, and many more questions. The book combines science, psyche and poetry. It's an excellent book for a book club or to read with someone else; I find myself wanting to talk to someone after each chapter. I also enjoy learning about the human brain.
I got the book in one piece so technically all is well. This book was recommended to me by my niece who is currently in college. She said that the book "was great" and that I "had to read it." So I bought it and tried to read it and I think the book is boring, poorly written and not worth the time spent to read it. So I called my niece and called BS on her for suggesting this book. She informed me that she had, in fact Not read the book but thought I might like the subject matter. The moral of the story is please, in the name of all that's good and decent do not suggest books you haven't read to anyone. It's really a scumbag move thinking that you can waste someone's time on a bad read that you yourself couldn't be bothered to read yourself. If you'd like to read this book I'll send it to you. If you're looking for a good book to read I suggest 'Walden' by Thoreau. And yes, I've read it cover to cover multiple times and know that it's great.Read full review

This book engages and reads like a novel. It addresses meaningful ideas related to love and how it psychologically and physically works in the mind. I compare this book to Freakonomics, in that it's a fun read that also teaches a lot. Written very well, and with great information! Highly recommend! My course in college only required 5 chapters to be read, but many people end up finishing the whole book!
Very good book, great research & great information.
