Fortysomething Father : The Day to Day Musings of a Fortysomething Dad Bringing up Two Young Children Whilst Running a Karaoke and Disco Business by Jason Ayres (2013, Trade Paperback)
Jason Ayres is a father, a DJ, a junk food addict, a karaoke presenter, a wannabe writer and more. Fatherhood arrived unexpectedly for him in his late thirties. In the space of five years he went from suited-and-booted Account Director with a big global company, to stay-at-home Dad and mobile DJ. With time on his hands in-between karaoke nights and nappy changes, he began to keep a diary about his experiences. The end result is this collection of anecdotes about all of the topics above and more. From trying to track down the perfect buffet, to the pitfalls of shopping in Tesco. From days out with the kids, to writing to Walkers Crisps with new suggestions for their product ranges, the chapters are many and varied. Please note that this is intended as a humorous diary style book, as opposed to a serious parenting guide. For an idea of the content, please check out the "Look Inside" section. This book was the first of two volumes of the Stay At Home Dad Diaries. The second, "Austerity Dad", was launched in 2013. He then continued his diaries via a weekly column in the Oxford Mail.
