This novel is neither as good nor as intricate as its predecessor, Darth Bane: Lord of Destruction. There just seems to be something missing from the story - almost like there needs to be three or four more chapters to flesh out the ideas and storyline that Karpyshyn elaborates. It would have been more gripping if Karpyshyn had gone into the actual training that Zannah received from Bane beyond just the lightsaber (dual-bladed) and simple skills. Nevertheless, the book is a great edition to what will hopefully AT LEAST be a trilogy of books. Rule of Two picks up right where Darth Bane left off. Bane has found an apparent apprentice in Zannah. He tests her ability to get to a distant planet, where they will establish a camp. She passes with flying colors. Though she is young, Zannah possesses an instinctive link to the dark side that rivals his own. With his guidance, she will become essential in his quest to destroy the Jedi and dominate the galaxy. Bane desperately searches throughout the entire book to unlock the secret of how to make a Sith holocron, traveling throughout the galaxy to do so. He is infested with parasitic orbalisks which provide him with protection and feed off his dark side energy. This is one of the more creative additions to the Star Wars universe. Definitely a worthwhile read and a worthy work of literature by itself. I look forward to many more of Karpyshyn's works!Read full review

The book has a great story line and even tells the history of how one of the star wars planets got its name and the weather condition it has in the star wars movies. It also tells about how and where the jedi order was first established. The only thing about the book is that the jedi are so weak when they're fighting the sith in this book. Even if the jedi out number them. It has many unexpected turns in the story and will keep you guessing throughout the story. I would definatly recommend that you read the first book before reading this one, because if you don't you will be completely lost when reading. It's a great book and would definatly recommend to any star wars fan.
This is the second book of three in the Darth Bane series. I would highly recommend this series to any Star Wars fan. This book and series has many references to the customs and history of the Sith and is very interesting. If you thought Darth Vader and some of the other Sith were evil, wait till you read about Darth Bane!
