I'm on my fourth copy of this book.I find it entertaining to read critics' reviews of albums that I own. Some I totally disagree with, others are right on the money. The great thing about this book is the witty writing. Some of the reviews are laugh-out-loud funny.I would recommend that the latest edition of this book, published in 2004,be avoided. It merely reprints reviews from an earlier edition and fails to mention many significant artists. If your musical tastes tend to include many artists from the sixties and seventies,as well as some from the early eighties, then this is the edition to get.Since it is an older book(published in 1983)the condition may not be perfect, but it is well worth owning.
Great way to find music that you may have missed. This early eighties record guide covers the golden era of contemporary music. Read the whole thing and you will want to listen to artists with whom you may not be familiar. Back in the day, I used it to order LPs that I had not heard. Today with Spotify you can listen to anything they recommend and decide for yourself. This book and the original with the red cover are great resources.
