I love Debbie Macomber. She is a wonderful author. I will read anything she writes, some for hers are okay but this one was fabulous. This is the story of Mary Jo Wyse. She is pregnant and looking for the babies father. She remembers him telling her that he would be visiting his parents in Cedar Cove for Christmas. Now, Mary Jo has three brothers and they are very protective of her. They decide that they need to confront this guy and make him marry their sister. Before they can do this a very pregnant Mary Jo takes off in search of David. She makes it to Cedar Cove by way of the ferry and goes in search. She tries a coffee shop and asks if he's ever heard of him. The boy says he has and recommends that she goes to the library to meet with Grace, who knows everyone in town. So, Mary Jo heads for the library and discovers that David isn't in town and that his parents are away on a cruise. She also learns that they will be back tomorrow- Christmas day. Now, she decides to stay in town rather than risk her brothers fury for not telling them she was leaving. Mary Jo tries every hotel, motel, and Inn in town and can;t find a place to stay. Mary is light headed and she nearly passes out. Grace phones for an aid car. This is where Mary Jo meets Mack. He tells her to go home and prop her feet up, to relax. Grace offers to put her up in the apartment above their barn. She'll need to watch because they are keeping the animals for the live navtivity in the barn and Grace already had a run in with the camel, the beast. Mary Jo acceots and can't believe someone could be so nice to her and they don't even know her. Grace and her family welcome her with open arms and she is invited to dinner at their home. Mary Jo accepts the dinner invitation and eats dinner with the family. Grace and Cliff invite Mary Jo to the church service and play at the church. This Mary Jo refuses, she really should realx. Grace does tell her that if she needs anything to give her a call and she would be there for her. When Grace and her crew leave Mary Jo starts to feel funny. She thinks she is labor. She knows that her brothers are on their way to take her home but can she wait on them? She decides to phone for the aid car and Mack. He shows up and she is in full labor. Grace gets a message to get home because of Mary Jo. Grace arrives home just in time to view the birth of a beautiful baby girl. Mary Jo is beside herself and doesn't know what to do, she has nothing for the baby here. Grace says no problem that she took care of it. Her daughter had a baby not too long ago and was willing to give her everything she needs for a new baby. Mary Jo is overwhelmed and as they are preparing her to be taken to the hospital. Cliff and his son-in-laws are out in the yard. They decide this is a very special night and set off fireworks. This is how Mary Jo's brothers find the house. They follow the fireworks. They arrive just in time, just before she is taken to the hospital. They even can barring gifts of perfume, and incense, and a gold piece. Mary Jo and the baby are fine. Mack shows up at the hospital on Christmas day. They talk and know they are falling in love. He asks the name of the baby and Mary Jo announces that she named her daughter Noelle Grace. She picked this name for the season and for her new friend Grace. This is without question one of the best books I have ever read. Hint: three Wyse Men and a baby on Christmas Eve.Read full review
I've read the entire Cedar Cove series and enjoyed all the books. The place is so real and the people become part of your life. Debbie McComber's style puts you right into her story. She's a sweetheart. She writes about everyday things, down-to-earth people and she does with true emotion. The fact that she is a Christian and loves to knit radiates through her printed pages. She proves beyond any doubt that you can write a very good book and not use profanity and sexual details. I can't see any woman being displeased with her novels.
A wonderful Christmas story. Come along with Mary Jo Wyse, who is unmarried and pregnant. She goes to Cedar Cove to locate the babies father, David Rhodes; he was suppose to be in Cedar Cove. She arrives on Christmas Eve and with not finding David and no where to stay, Grave and Cliff Harding take Mary Jo in. But, with a houseful of guests; the only room is over the stable. They are also housing the animals for the Nativity show that night. As luck would have it, Mary Jo goes into labor. Mack McAfee, a paramedic comes to her rescue. Will she find David? I like all of Debbie Macomber's books especially when she writes a series of books using the same characters. A Cedar Cove Christmas is a nice compliment to the Cedar Cove series. The story gives you a warm feeling of the small community and makes you feel ready to celebrate your own Christmas with faith, hope and love. The story parallels the story of the birth of Jesus in a beautiful manner.
I bought this book, because I have the cedar cove series. Plus another reason I bought this book, is it's a Debbie Macomber book I like her books. Every book that I've read was good. Once you start reading the series you can't just quite reading the books. The only thing I hate about is waiting for a year or so before you get to read the next book in the series. These books are just about different families just living their life. They are very good books.
