Have not begun reading it, but Francine Rivers writes a compelling novel, and I expect this to be no exception. Arrived quickly, thank you!

I enjoy the author's writing style and the book was at a good price so I bought it. The author is a Christian fiction writer. The story is about a man becoming a pastor of his own church and trying to prove to his father that he can be as well known and have a mega church like his preacher father. Both men have strayed from what the main reason for preaching is and their families are torn apart trying to gently show them that fact. It is not a preach-to-you book but is well written to make you think about what being a Christian really means.
The author's writing skills are aptly demonstrated, but this is not her best work of fiction. The plot drags on for about 2/3 of the book. The characters did not come alive for quite some time. It seems like the moral of the story was a good reminder, but I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps it's because my life is so far removed from those of the lead characters, a pastor building a mega-church and his (emotionally abandoned) wife.
Francine Rivers always writes a good book, theologically sound. Even though I have very limited storage space in my small condo, this is one that I knew I had to own, to be able to read and reread it. Life-changing fiction.

I belong to a book club, our choice for the month was this book. I could hardly put the book down, read it in two days. The author did an excellent job of proving that "no one" is perfect, including 'men of God'. Wives sometimes follow submission blindly as the will of God. Excellent read
