The only complaint I have is that the chemical unit that heats the food does not work. I use a small stove and a pot full of water to heat up the meal in the bag. I am a security guard off and pulling 12 hour shifts often out of doors and I cannot leave my post so the meals come in handy.

On the pro side of this the case is cheap in comparison to most of the other brands, and it will definitely keep you alive if you're reduced to eating it. On the con side of this, there's a reason they are so cheap. 7 of the 14 meals were vegetable lasagna, which is horrible, another 4 were vegetable crumble sausage, i.e. vegetarian fake meat. The other 3 meals were regular meals that included meat in some form. So, they will keep you alive in an emergency situation, but if your life is reduced to eating these you may ask yourself if life is worth living

These meals are lacking considerable in the amount of food that they provide. They also have many repeat meals like three spaghetti, 2 beef patty etc. There are no accessories such as coffee, whitener, sugar, or salt. The spoon is very flimsy. They all seem to have the same items in them. On entrée, one desert which in most cases is a first strike mocha flavored bar, one cheese spread, one peanut butter, one set of crackers. The heaters sometimes don't work. There is one beverage provided and it is in most cases orange powder that has a very poor taste and does not dissolve in cold water very well. There are no bags to mix the beverage. It would be ok if you are going on a fishing trip for only an hour or so but by no means are the good for long term hiking that would require more nutrition. These meals are nearly at the end of their life span. The date code is 2012 and most mre are fresh for 3 to 5 years. In conclusion I will not be purchasing this type of meal again.Read full review

I can see why these MREs are cheaper than the real military MREs, they are cheaper because they suck, and taste like crap. Sure you get 14 of them instead of 12, but you don't get a drink pack, and you need to add a LOT of salt to make the (small) main portion palatable. Don't waste your time with these, just spend the extra $10-$20 and get the real thing, they taste much better. My dog wouldn't even eat the vegetable lasagna, what's that tell you...

shipping was crazy fast. These are FEMA rations i think. It is not the complete Military MRE as some of the components like a napkin, salt & pepper, candy, etc are not included but the elements are good and mine were dated from 2012. Contents are almost always entree, cheese pack, peanut butter, cookie and heater. The only real problem i have is that some of the heaters do not work so well with the hard water in my area. I find that adding a little salt to the water gets them going though so all in all i'm really pleased with them. Some duplicates in the boxes i have ordered but there has been very few vegetarian ones so i've been pleased with the variety. Cheapest price per meal i've found for these things and will order again. Just know that they are packaged for civilian use and understand what you are getting.Read full review
