The BOATNIKS plot isn't to original, Jewel thieves try to get away with their heist to Mexico but Ensign Garland (Robert Morse) unknown to himself inadvertently keeps blundering their plans. Ensign Garland is the son of a famous Naval Hero who takes command of a Southern California Coast Guard unit but he isn't living up to his fathers reputation as he finds himself needing to be rescued several times in the movie. In the end he proves he's a chip off the old block as he figures out who the bad guys are and brings them to justice. His reward is the renewed confidence of his superiors allowing him to stay on board as Ensign and of course he gets Kate (Stefanie Powers) as his bride. "BOATNIKS" has a great supporting cast, Phil Silvers, Wally Cox, Dom Ameche, Norman Fell, & Stefanie Powers were all well known stars of television and film in the 60's 70's and each gives a star performance in "BOATNIKS" The scenery around Southern California is stunning, picture quality is quite good, The movie is sort of repetitious with its stunts but over all its a good movie. It is very good movie, never a dull moment. With a lot of action from each actor. Don is the in each movie that he acts in. I liked the very much.

Fun family movie! Lots of crazy mishaps and lots of silly fun aboard this movie. Also, this takes place in my favorite beach area "Balboa" which is in Newport Beach....for those of you who are quite familiar with it, you'll notice areas such as Pirates Cove, and other scenic harbor area...and Lido Isle area which is also notated in the boat rental area with Stephanie Powers....good fun.
