Offered for your consideration is a coin bag from The First National Bank of Chicago, c.1968. First Chicago was the Midwest’s most prominent bank for over 100 years and then merged with Bank One in the late 1990’s.

This heavy cotton bag, and others like it, was primarily used to transport rolls of quarters, dimes, etc. from the downtown Chicago main bank to First Chicago branches and large merchants by armored truck. Merchants, in turn, would often return the bagswhen making a deposit. So, please have a look at the large photos of this coin bag to decide if it’s suitable for your needs.

The coin bag measures a full 18” long when not folded x some 11” at widest. It’s in good structural condition with only one small hole and the expected light staining and wear marks from years of use. I imagine many of these bags were destroyed soon after First Chicago ceased to exist as an independent entity, so this is a pretty cool find!
